Envision an education where students are valued over tests. Imagine individuals being prized for who they are, not criticized for who they aren’t. This is true education-education that encourages individuals to grow in character and ability, helping them to root themselves deep in the knowledge and wisdom of the past while expanding their capacity and strength for creating a bright future. Not simply training to jump through hoops for prizes, but inspiring a passion and drive to do more and reach higher, all with the support and encouragement of the adults around them.
MAPLE Scholars is an individual mentoring and group project-based learning service for students ages 12 and up.
The mentors you choose to work with your children should not only be qualified, but hold similar values to yours and put the emphasis on the students, not the rules or their ego.
Schedule a time to talk through your concerns one-on-one.
Selecting the ideal educational environment for your child isn’t a one size fits all choice.
If this looks like a good fit, sign up soon. As a small hybrid there are only 10-15 slots to fill.
Application Deadline: August 15th or when we fill up.
The best of both worlds.
Individualized
What do you want from your education? How much do you want to use technology? What is your favorite way to learn? What rejuvenates you? How do you think about organization? What gaps do you want filled?
I have spent the past 15 years working as a shadow mentor, helping students to shine. A shadow mentor works from the shadows and lets the students take the lead. My focus is on asking the right questions, guiding and supporting through next steps, helping you discover how you learn best and to find inspiration. In short, a shadow mentor supports students as they lead and find their own way.
Peers and Group
Students start to need interaction with peers more and more right around 12 years of age. Discussions, writing groups, acting, presentations, speech, debate, simulations, and real life projects are all great ways to add depth and beauty to education, and they are all so much better with friends and peers.
You can have the best of both worlds. Get together several times a week with peers to collaborate, but still have time and space to focus on the things that matter most to you.
